The HCSO K-9 Division provides specialized law enforcement capabilities to the citizens of Hillsdale County. In addition to regular road patrol, the K-9 team is trained and used in narcotics detection, article searches, man tracking, building clearing and handler protection. Schools, industry, business and governmental units have used the K-9 services for drug detection work in their establishments. K-9 Units have tracked felons from the scene of B&Es for apprehension, subjects fleeing on foot from traffic stops and hidden subjects in building searches.
Our K-9 Division is trained and certified by the National Association of Professional Canine Handlers (NAPCH) and train with them on a monthly basis to maintain proficiency. The dogs live at home with their handlers to promote a strong bond between the team members.
The K-9 Division is under the command of Captain Carl Albright.
