The purpose of the Police Cadet Program is to
attract young, well-qualified men and women to
participate in an organized on-the-job training
program which includes instructions in the
duties, responsibilities, methods and techniques
of the department. The program is designed
to better qualify the members for police officer
and other criminal justice positions when they
have reached the age of 21.
Participants in the Police Cadet Program are
expected to gain practical knowledge of the
functions of the department and the basic
theories of law enforcement by attending college
and university police science, criminology and
related courses coupled with actual performance
in the department .
Program Goals:
To provide career insight to young adults who
are interested in law enforcement and the
criminal justice system.
To provide non-hazardous law enforcement
experience to those young persons who have
demonstrated sufficient interest by active
participation in Cadet Activities.
To provide quality candidates for Community
Service Officer, Police Officer, or other law
enforcement related positions from young people
in the community.
These goals are to be achieved by a structured
program that will stress individual
responsibility. Identification and development
of individual Cadet leadership qualities will be
an objective of the Cadet Program.
